A few weeks have passed since my last blog entry. A lot of preparation work has been going on and quite some natural disasters stroke Mexico in the meantime. First Tropical Storm Lidia hit the southern tip of Baja California and on the 7th and 19th September two strong Earthquakes stroke and devastated parts of Mexico.
Good news: Sandbags seem to resist Hurricanes and Earthquakes! 😉
In the meantime we produced the Sandbags in Mexico City and they are on their way to La Ventana.
Edgar removed the old sandbag walls and cleaned up the site with his team. By removing the sandbags we got acquainted with my new pet! Rati – a beautiful rattlesnake! 🙂
The amazing part of construction nowadays is that a simple whatsapp group including contractor, workers, architect and homeowner can effectively coordinate and facilitate the building process by sharing some 3D-SketchUp-illustrations.
In our case, Octavio sends the illustrations including measurements from Oaxaca, Edgar starts the work immediately on the construction site and Josue, being in Paris, jumps in when doubts occur and I can always see what is going on. When pragmatically applied technology simplifies construction process throughout continents… amazing!
With this information exchange the excavation for the porch foundation has been steaming ahead. Some people see it as a simple porch, however please be aware that this is going to be the official hack-shack dancefloor. Here many moonlight dances will be enjoyed… to be continued! 😉
